Jack London (1876 - 1916) was an American novelist, journalist and social activist. Pioneering the genre of magazine fiction and prototyping science fiction, he became one of the first writers, who gained worldwide fame and a large fortune. As a road novel set at the Turn-of-the-Century, «The Valley of the Moon» follows the journey of a working-class couple of Oakland Billy and Saxon Roberts through central and northern California in search of beautiful land they can farm. The book shows not only their struggles but also simple human relationship and even fellowship the heroes form on their way.
